Maths W7 - What makes a good math buddy ?

 Hi,

This is week for my maths blog post for week 7 ill be talking about what makes a good maths buddy.

Lately in our math workshops we have been given chosen math buddy's who the teachers chose for us to work that weeks problem solving questions with and then share our answers with the rest of the class at the end of the week. The math buddy's that are chosen are usually not always the people that you wouldn't usually chose to be your math buddy and you have to work with people you wouldn't normally work with.

I think that being a good math buddy means not making your math buddy do all the work, and if you dont understand the questions maybe ask how they got the answer and ask them if they could explain the questions better for you. I think what makes a good math buddy is lots of talking and not ignoring the person that is your buddy.

Maths W5

 Hi,

This week for my maths blog post we did percentages. 

We had to be in peers and answer questions on a doc and then the teacher picked out names that were written on Popsicle sticks ad whoever names came out you or your buddy you have to share your working in front on the class. 

The answers to the questions are in my math book which I dont have access to right now but me nad my buddy got 2/3 questions right.

 Hi,

Welcome back to my blog post for this week. 

This week for writing we had too do persuasive texts and we had too look at all the 17 goals. Which the teachers chose three of that we had to write our speech about this week we did some more speech writing and we practiced and timed our speeches.

This is my first paragraph of my speech. Down below.

" Along with causing greater poverty, a lack of affordable healthcare is leading to problems with mental and physical health. There are around 420 million deaths due to mental health issues and 5 million people around the world are dying each year from not having access to affordable care and not enough money to get the help they need. "

Have you ever wrote a speech before ?

Maths Task W5

 Hi,

This week for my math create task / my workshop we did percentages then we had to watch some videos then we got given a math buddy and we had to answer a doc of questions. 

Down below is the doc with two out of three questions we had to answer. 

I answered these questions into my book and found the questions quite easy to answer and I now have a good understanding of percentages.

Writing W4 - Speech Planning Part 2

 Hi, 

This week for our writing task we had to do some more planning onto on our speech, we had to add some extra information into it and start writing some of the intro and if you could some of the paragraphs. I have not started writing my speech yet because I am still planning so I can get a good understanding about what i'm writing about. If you read my last writing blog about speech planning you would know that I chose the topic good health and well being for my speech topic. I wrote a clear plan so that when I write my speech it will be easy to get ideas and more info to add onto it.

 Hi,

This week for my writing blog post we had to plan our speeches for this term. We had to choose a topic out of four categories to write our speeches about. I chose the category good health and well being, I chose this topic instead of the others because I think that there is lots of different parts about it and I think that there's lots to write about and it's a very interesting topic to write and to listen to if I was in the audience's perspective. We had to plan our speech onto a doc and show the teachers our plan for what we were gonna write our speech about. I wrote on my plan different categories that could fit into the good health and well being topic and I wrote mental health, physical health and disorders and conditions and how they are caused in the human body and how does it develop in the human body.

Hi,

This week for my reading blog post im talking about my reading create task and reading workshop for this week. We had to read a story about a toy factory and if we thought that it would be okay or not okay if they located it beside a hospital and creek, we discussed this during our workshop and then we had to read another story and me and my partner chose the story " Why is junk food bad for kids ? " we then had to write a script and film a screencastify and then we had to share it in our workshop.

 Hi,

This week for reading we had to do a screencastify explaining if we think robots will make humans or endangered or not ? and if not why ? We got to work in pairs, me and my pair did a screencastify but my pair has to screencastify on her Chromebook and so I will only be able to share with you the script that we had to read in the video.

Cantamaths W2

 Hi,

This week for my blog post for this week i'll be talking about the cantamaths groups that we had to do this week. 

We got put into groups of four and we had to choose a runner and they got to sit on a chair, then they got the first question and you got to get three guesses to answer the question and if you couldn't answer it you had to pass it or if you couldn't answer the question you got an option to pass it. My group was number 16 and we answered a couple of the questions but didn't get very many correct. Then we did it again another time that same week and we got a couple correct. Some of the questions were very hard but it was fun.

This week for my reading task we had to fill out a bunch of slides like the image below, we had to pick a story to read out of the slides then we had to pick sentences that applied to that fantastic and we had to pick a negative and a positive one. Then you had to find as many sentences as you could from the story.

Maths Week 1 Term 3

Hi,

This week for my blog post we had to do problem solving. For problem solving we got given a sheet and we had to answer either question 1 or 2 and if you had extra time you could do both, me and my math buddy chose to do question 2 and is looked like one of the more understanding question. Question 2 was " There are 360 students at St Francis of Assisi school, and 95 of these students are year 7/8 Kaupeka students. Do the Kaupeka students make up more or less than 1/5 of the students at St Francis Of Assisi School. Me and my math buddy got that it is less than 1/5 of the school because 1/5 of 360 is 72 and so it would be less students because its lower than 95. We worked this out in our maths books so I have no photo of my work to show you.

Writing create task writing term 3

Hi,

This week for my blog post for writing we had too do plot points, we had to read the story Hansel and Gretel and then use the fantastics. The 9 fantastics are feeling, asking, noticing, touching, action, smelling, tasting, imagining, and checking. You had to pick a sentence and then put a fantastic next to the sentence. A fantastic is when you put it so it shows how you or the character in the story feels in the story or something that has happened or something that someone in the story has said.
